Beginners’ courses are run every six weeks, book early to avoid disappointment.
You need more swords in your life and you need it yesterday
Learn the fundamentals of attack and defence with the Highland Broadsword before moving on to all our other fencing styles.
The pointy part goes in the other guy
No equipment needed, lender fencing masks and training blades are supplied in class.
Just bring yourself, comfortable clothing, and all the friends you can convince
Classes are held Wednesdays 8pm-10pm in the Fratton Priory Sports Centre (Upper Gymnasium).
Extra weekend sparring days for course graduates who demand twice as much fencing
Parking available on site, Fratton Railway station also located nearby for a rail link.
Do not cycle into class to “simulate mounted combat”
Classes only available to students aged 18+.
Leave the baby at home, babies make for poor parrying devices
Pricing is £40 for the three weeks of your beginners’ course, and includes a free week of regular classes so you can get a taste for our usual sessions.
We will spend it on swords
If after the first session you find HEMA is not for you then we’ll refund your course fee.
No questions asked
Regular training fees are £10 a session or £30 for a months membership. All fencers who train with us regularly will also require an annual £16 for insurance provided by the British Combat Association.
